ALSG (Advanced Life Support in Gynecology) training program was launched in Greece in 2011 as part of continuing education and training. The ALSG Course is organized regularly by the Greek Society of Obstetric and Gynecological Emergency. The aim of the program is for participants to successfully complete the Course and to be able to manage gynecological emergencies that may threaten a woman’s life or fertility.
The Course lasts 2 days and emphasizes in hands-on training. It assists health professionals to manage gynecological cases using algorithms, which actually “rescue” in emergency situations. Participants perform medical procedures on mannequins with the guidance of experienced instructors. They also participate in case discussions, counseling simulations and video discussions as well as in interactive lectures.
The Course Handbook has been written by a team of experienced Greek professionals and provides the necessary knowledge to deal with gynecological emergencies. The training process ends with an optional examination, oral and written. All trainees receive a Certificate of Attendance, while those who pass both examinations receive a Certificate of Completion.
